Daniel H. Spofford letters, 1861-1864.

A small collection of letters of Daniel H. Spofford to his parents in Lynn, Massachusetts written as a soldier in Company H, 1st Massachusetts Infantry Regiment during the Civil War, 1861-1864. Letters include descriptions of routine camp life, food, clothing, road building, review of troops and senior officers, and troop movements. Also, descriptions of Spofford's participation in the Wilderness Campaign, and the battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and Fredericksburg.
